Matt Damon Takes the Ice Bucket Challenge…With Toilet Water?

Last week we highlighted some of our favorite celebrity ALS Ice Bucket Challenges, but that’s before our new favorite came into play.

Matt Damon.

After Ben Affleck and Jimmy Kimmel nominated the actor to participate, he became conflicted about the challenge. Damon explains in a video posted to Youtube that he wanted to help raise awareness for those suffering from the degenerative disease, but as the co-founder of Water.org, an organization with the goal of providing clean water and sanitation around the world, he didn’t want to waste something so valuable and needed by many.

So, he came up with a compromise. The humanitarian collected water from his toilets and decided that he would use that water instead, drawing attention to the 2.4 billion people around the world that don’t have access to clean sanitation systems.

“This is truly toilet water. I’ve been collecting it from various toilets around the house,” he says as he prepares to dump the water on his head. ”For those of you like my wife who think this is really disgusting, keep in mind that the water in our toilets in the West is actually cleaner than the water that most people in the developing world have access to.”

After Damon completed his challenge for two great causes, he nominated George Clooney, Bono, and Tom Brady. The clock is clicking gentleman.
